Kohima: Three Ao civil society groups set a hard deadline for the Nagaland government to fix school staffing. The Ao Senden, Watsü Mungdang, and Ao Kaketshir Mungdang expect action by the end of the 2026 academic year. The groups sent a joint response to the School Education Department regarding letter number DSE/Rationalization/21-6/2026, dated September 2026. They acknowledge the department claims the process is underway.
Students suffer daily. Shortages and uneven distribution of subject teachers plague schools across Mokokchung district. The groups want effective recruitment to fix this educational imbalance.
"Considering the urgency of the matter and the larger academic interests of the students, the Ao Senden, Watsü Mungdang, and AKM will wait only until the end of the academic year 2026 for the Department to take concrete and effective action towards addressing the issues raised," the joint statement said. Failure to meet these demands will force the organizations to take their own democratic action to protect the local education system.
Marsanen Imsong, Tianaro Jamir, and Lanulemba Longchar signed the notice. These leaders represent the Ao Senden, Watsü Mungdang, and AKM respectively. They demand that authorities treat these systemic failures with immediate seriousness.
