Kohima: District Congress Committee (DCC) Mokokchung leaders hit back at claims of a mass exodus on Wednesday. They flatly denied that 61 workers and office-bearers quit the party. Instead, officials alleged that the resignation list was a fake.
DCC Vice-President Nukshi I Ozukum stood before the press at DCC Bhavan. He claimed the party identified 12 people whose names appeared on the list without their consent or authorization. Three of those individuals stood alongside him. They confirmed they never signed any resignation. They expressed deep frustration at having their names dragged into the dispute.
Ozukum did not mince words. He stated, "The DCC strongly condemns this," and vowed to hunt for the truth until the end. Officials expect more forged names to turn up as the investigation moves forward.
The controversy stems from allegations of autocratic management within the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee. But DCC leadership insists the real issue is simple sabotage. They argued that the push for leadership changes follows standard restructuring plans. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) started this process after meetings in Ahmedabad and Hyderabad last year. The goal is prepping for the 2029 elections.
Ozukum pointed to age requirements for the shake-up. The former DCC president was over 70. He failed to meet the new criteria set by AICC observers. Party officials stressed that this is a nationwide effort to revamp the organization, not a local spat. They confirmed all frontal groups like the Youth Congress and Mahila Congress remain fully intact. Workers should stay calm.
