Kohima: Nineteen Congress functionaries in Nagaland's Mokokchung district quit the party on August 30. They resigned from their posts, responsibilities, and primary memberships with immediate effect. The group cited a lack of confidence in current leadership.
The mass resignation involves members from the Mongoya and Longjang areas. Four of the individuals were booth-level agents tied to the 25th Mongoya Assembly constituency. Another 11 hold specific party membership codes, while the final four served as members of the Longjang unit.
The departing group issued a formal statement on Friday. They cited the "dismal state of affairs" of the Congress party both within Mokokchung and across the state of Nagaland. They see no path forward for the organization under its current direction.
