Kohima: Sixty-one Congress party officials and workers in Mokokchung district resigned on July 21. They quit all posts and their primary membership effective immediately. The exodus marks a major blow to the Indian National Congress in Nagaland. The group sent their formal letters directly to the AICC President.
These workers blamed the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee leadership for the fallout. They specifically pointed to autocratic functioning and mismanagement as the root causes. The signatories include NPCC and DCC officials, Youth and Mahila leaders, the Minority Department chairman, the Seva Dal chief organiser, advisors, and active executive members.
The letter claims that recent leadership moves triggered widespread chaos, confusion, and division within the ranks. The dissidents argue that the party ignores dedicated workers, creating an environment of mistrust and factionalism. The group noted that they stayed loyal even when the party neared extinction in 2015. However, they can "no longer remain silent spectators to the destruction of the party organization" in the district and state.
This mass exit adds pressure to a party already fighting to gain a foothold in the region. The organization faces a tough road ahead.
