Kohima: MLA TN Mannen visited Khanimu village in the Mokokchung district on August 8 to inaugurate a new Panchayat Hall. Mannen, who serves as Advisor to the Chief Minister for Law and Justice and Land Revenue, pushed villagers to focus on collective action. He insisted that progress demands open dialogue and mutual respect. "When we decide together, we move forward together," he said.
The legislator emphasized the duty to guard local assets. He told residents to treat roads, schools, water sources, and health centers like their own property. Neglect hurts everyone. The community must prioritize upkeep, cleanliness, and timely repairs to keep these investments functional.
Mannen challenged the local youth to look beyond state employment. He described government jobs as limited and urged the next generation to start small businesses. He pointed toward animal husbandry, modern farming, local crafts, tourism, and various service sectors as viable paths for growth. He told them: "Become positive contributors to society rather than passive seekers of limited and uncertain government jobs."
Khanimu holds strategic advantages. It sits under the Asetkong range and enjoys road links to Mokokchung town and neighboring Assam. Mannen believes these connections invite trade and outside investment. He called for flexible land policies and a transparent environment to lure entrepreneurs. The event featured a welcome by Village Council Chairman Tongpang Aier and speeches from N Temjen Aier and Project Director Yapangla. The program concluded with remarks from Tsüpong Aier and a vote of thanks from S Imli Aier.
