Imphal: Khurai MLA Leishangthem Susindro Meitei wants voters to ignore election talk. He insists they judge every candidate by their actual track record of public service. Susindro, known locally as Yaima, spoke at a recent political meeting in his constituency to address critics. He warned that politicians must put the public first rather than just chasing votes.
The MLA pushed back on questions regarding his own promises. He highlighted his plan to plant one lakh saplings and build a new flyover at Lamlong. Susindro claimed he is working hard to turn those campaign promises into reality. He also touched on a stalled plan to provide iPads to students. The initiative started to help kids during the COVID-19 pandemic but hit a wall. "The matter later became subject to legal proceedings following a challenge by a rival candidate and that the case is scheduled for hearing before the Supreme Court on September 25."
Work on the ground continues. He confirmed that 874 new people now hold Cheng Cards. This move pushes total coverage in the area to roughly 80 per cent. He also noted progress on a housing project. His office aims to build 500 homes, with over 100 structures already finished. Susindro wants new committees formed to help these residents. He told his supporters to cooperate with his team to get government aid to the right people. Benefits are for the public, not for political gain.
