Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh is pushing for reconciliation. He addressed a political conference at Irengbam Mapal Kangjeibung in the Bishnupur district on November 6. The event supported Kh Jibon Singh, the BJP candidate for the Oinam Assembly constituency. The Chief Minister acknowledged the heavy toll the ethnic conflict has taken on residents over the last three years.

Khemchand Singh recently visited a Sinai designated camp in the Kangpokpi district. CRPF soldiers currently guard the site. He spoke with Kuki women gathered there to air their grievances. The leader noted a split in the hills regarding the state of the region. "I met with Kuki mothers who were waiting for me. There are many in hill areas who want peace. Some want to destroy peace," he said.

The Chief Minister praised Jibon Singh for his work during the instability. He urged voters to support the candidate in the upcoming Assembly elections expected early next year. Khemchand Singh promised that the party would prioritize easing the suffering of women and mothers who faced the brunt of the violence. "The BJP knows very well the hardships faced by the people and, more specifically, by the mothers and women during the last three years, and the party will definitely make sure that those hardships are eased," he said.
