Aizawl: Mizoram Governor General Vijay Kumar Singh ordered IRCON International Ltd to pick up the pace on the stalled 109.2 km Paletwa-Zorinpui road. He wants real results during the upcoming working season. The project is a major piece of the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project.

Singh met with Sanjay Tripathi, the project head for IRCON's Myanmar branch, at Lok Bhavan in Aizawl on Monday. Tripathi admitted that the job sits at 25 per cent physical progress and 30 per cent financial progress. The governor heard the briefing and demanded immediate action. He noted the project had faced prolonged delays and could not be delayed any further.

Tripathi used a PowerPoint presentation to outline ongoing challenges and the future path of the work. Singh insisted the Central Government initiative deserves top priority. He told the contractor to report any roadblocks immediately. The governor promised to help clear the way for a finish, stating, "All possible efforts must be made to complete it successfully."
