Kohima: Thirty-four bikers tore through Mon on Sunday to put HIV and AIDS awareness in the public eye. The District Integrated Strategy for HIV/AIDS organized the ride as a core feature of the Intensified IEC Campaign 3.0. They want people to adopt safe, responsible health habits.
Longyim Tzudir, the DPO of DISHA, started the day by thanking the Chief Medical Officer for backing their work. He briefed the crowd on the campaign agenda before detailing the route. The convoy kicked off at the CMO Office, hit the bazaar and New Site, then looped back home.
Dr. Supongmenla Walling, the CMO of Mon, set the tone before the start. She linked bike safety to public health. She told the crowd, "people are reminded to remain alert and follow traffic rules while riding a bike for their own safety."
Chaplain YP David Konyak offered a prayer before Walling flagged off the riders. The participants displayed banners and messages to grab attention throughout the transit points. Deputy Commissioner Wennyei Konyak caught the group at the finish line. He posed for photos and pushed the department to keep up the pressure. The event pulled in health officials, traffic cops, and local volunteers to drive the message home.
