Minister Promises Relief as Floods Devastate Tizit

Kohima: Health and Family Welfare Minister P. Paiwang Konyak toured Tizit on July 23 to survey flood damage. He met with government officials, NGOs, civil groups, and student leaders at the ADC conference hall. The minister praised the local response to the crisis. He pledged to deliver medicine, food, and supplies once road access returns. Paiwang personally handed out food grains and cash to families in Tizit Town, Lapa Lampong, and the Greenply area.

The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee raised alarms on July 24 regarding the humanitarian toll. The flooding hit Tizit Town, Tizit Village, and Lapalampong Village hard. Nearly 800 households in Tizit Town face ruin. The party claims homes, schools, shops, hostels, tea gardens, and livestock are gone. It described the situation as a disaster.

The NPCC demanded that state and central governments scale up relief efforts immediately. They want the State Disaster Management Authority to prioritize food, shelter, water, and clothing. The party argued that the current aid remains insufficient for the scale of destruction. Paiwang echoed the need for help. He told attendees, "I appreciate all who have come forward to assist the affected people during the unprecedented crisis." The minister called on wealthy individuals and organizations to step up and support the recovery efforts.
