Kohima: Devastating floods hit Mon district. The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee says the situation in Tizit town, Tizit village, and Lapalampong village is dire. Nearly 800 households in Tizit town alone are reeling from the disaster. Homes, schools, hostels, and shops sit in ruins. Tea gardens, livestock, and cultivated land have been washed away or heavily damaged.
The party claims the government response is falling short. They argue the victims have not received enough help despite the massive scale of the destruction. Congress leaders are now pushing the state government, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, and the central government to act. They demand immediate aid to save lives and restore essential services.
The priority list includes shelter, food, clean drinking water, medicines, and clothing. The NPCC stated, "The immediate priority should be to save lives and provide shelter, food, clean drinking water, medicines, clothing and restore essential services in the affected areas."
Solidarity is needed now. The party is calling on churches, civil society organisations, NGOs, businesses, and private citizens to step up. They want locals to offer voluntary services, financial support, and relief materials to help these families get back on their feet.
