Kohima: Floods and landslides have battered the Tuli sub-division, impacting roughly 400 households. The surge damaged homes, farmlands, livestock, and local infrastructure, including temporary hanging bridges. Tuli Town Council chairman Alemchuba said, "around 300-400 households had been affected by the recent flood in the sub-division." Damage assessments continue as reports roll in.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Imsenperong Wati confirmed emergency rations and essential supplies reached 500 families. Fire and Emergency Services are clearing debris from homes. The medical department launched a contingency plan to watch for diseases. ASHA workers are currently mapping vulnerable households. Staff shifted IPD wards and handed out zinc and ORS packets. The Tuliyong Ward Community Hall now serves as an emergency medical centre. Cleanup crews sanitized the CHC and the local police station.
The police station is back to work. The CHC functions from a makeshift site at the community hall. Displaced families are staying at a relief camp in the Tuli Town Hall, while the ADC Office Complex handles supply distribution. Water pipelines are broken. Tankers will provide drinking water soon. Light vehicles can use the National Highway-2 between Tzudikong and Tuli, or the route to Changtongya. The Tuli-Mokokchung path via Asangma-Kelingmen and Longjang is also clear.
Landslides cut off roads to Wameken, Kangtsung, and Anaki. Tulikong, Tzudikong, Anaki ‘C’ village, and Aopenzu suffered the most damage. Workers are fixing optical fibre cables between Chuchuyimlang and Unger to restore connectivity. The Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police visited the site on July 21. Officials now restrict heavy vehicles, advise on water safety, and use loudspeakers to keep the public informed.
