Shillong: The All Meghalaya Primary School Teachers’ Association plans to flood the streets of Shillong on October 7. Members intend to protest recent Education Department notifications. They want results. Joint general secretary CD Synrem told reporters on Monday that the procession starts at 10 am from the Community Hall at Golflink.

The route travels along Bishops Cotton Road and Fourth Furlong before looping back to the finish at Golflink. Previous attempts to resolve these issues with the department failed. Synrem stated, "If the government does not address the demands after the rally, AMPSTA will meet to decide its next course of agitation."

The association demands that the state fill vacant posts across government, deficit, and non-government schools. They also want new positions added to single-teacher schools. Beyond staffing, the group seeks an exemption from Booth Level Officer duties. They also want the government to regularize Lower Primary teachers hired in 2007 and those working in non-government schools. Finally, the union wants officials to scrap specific parts of the July 27 order.
