Manipur Officials Push Local Nutrition at 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah

Imphal: Manipur officials held the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026 at the Manipur State Film Development Society in Imphal today. The event focused on pushing healthy eating habits for kids. Social Welfare Commissioner Haobam Rosita, Director Sheikh Abdul Hakim, and MCPCR Chairperson Keisham Pradipkumar led the proceedings.

Rosita warned that government agencies cannot fix nutrition gaps by themselves. She pushed for deeper community involvement. "Maintaining a balanced diet was essential for good health and could not be achieved by Anganwadi workers or the Social Welfare Department alone," Rosita said. She urged families to pick local, seasonal produce over processed alternatives, noting that modern work schedules often disrupt healthy routines.

Director Sheikh Abdul Hakim pointed to lifestyle choices as a root cause for health issues. He told Anganwadi workers to step up their outreach efforts. Meanwhile, Keisham Pradipkumar called for stricter oversight of school lunchboxes. He warned that social media advertising fuels the dangerous spread of fast food among children.

Integrated Child Development Services staff set up exhibits to demonstrate nutritional value. The program also included technical sessions, promotional videos, and various cultural performances.
