Shillong: The All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers Association has issued an ultimatum to the Education Department. Teachers want their full paychecks on time. They submitted a memorandum to Education Minister Lakhmen Rymbui on September 18 via the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner.
SPF SSA teachers only received partial payments for May, June, July, and August 2026. This inconsistency has gutted household budgets. Many teachers struggle to cover bank loan EMIs and basic financial obligations. The union also flagged unequal treatment compared to other staff under the same SPF program.
Technical headaches drive these delays. The shift from the Public Financial Management System to the SPARSH portal crippled the payment schedule. Teachers notified education authorities about the mess, but officials failed to fix it. The association now demands a full review of the SPARSH system and wants the government to switch back to the old PFMS setup.
The teachers set a September 30 deadline for the state to act. They warned that if the government ignores these demands, the union will launch a “peaceful democratic agitation” during the first week of October 2026.
