Shillong: Garo Hills deficit school teachers are pushing back against a state education order that guts job security. The Garo Hills Deficit School Teachers and Employees Association rejects the new Structured Pay Framework introduced by the Education Department on August 12. This system replaces existing sanctioned posts under SEMAM for all new school appointments.
The association labels the move arbitrary and warns it lacks input from those on the ground. President Brian Marak says the shift hurts staff already dealing with missed DA arrears, unpaid CPF, and inconsistent paychecks. "We vehemently object to the idea of removing sanctioned posts," Marak stated. He claims this bad precedent threatens the future of educators across the state.
Teachers fear the new framework will drive away top talent and drop classroom standards. The group wants the government to scrap the order immediately. They demand the administration keep the teaching profession viable for the next generation.
