Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma opened Meghalaya's first High-Performance Sports Science Centre in Shillong this week. The facility aims to bolster local sports infrastructure by offering elite scientific training, performance analytics, and specialized rehabilitation tools. It is a big move for local athletes.

The state built the centre alongside Abhinav Futuristics, an organization led by Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra. This partnership centralizes performance analysis and recovery services for regional competitors. It provides a single hub for modern athlete development.

Sangma plans to cultivate talent from the grassroots level to international competition. He wants to turn sports into a way of life while establishing the state as a top-tier sporting destination. The government expects these scientific methods to build a solid foundation for future stars. The chief minister remains focused on long-term growth.

“The champions of tomorrow begin with the foundations we build today,” Sangma said. He believes that investing in this infrastructure is the only way for Meghalaya to secure future medals on the national and global stage.
