Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma declared the situation in Shillong under control on Tuesday. This follows twin-petrol bomb attacks at the Laban Police Station. Tension remains. The government is pushing for peace through dialogue with stakeholders.
Violence will not be tolerated. Sangma promised strict legal action against anyone found responsible for the attacks. He stated, "The law would have to take its course and be applied." Authorities are monitoring the area closely to determine if more security forces are needed to maintain order.
Separately, the state is investigating reports from the Langpih border region. Residents told Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong that Assam officials are forcing them to enroll in the Special Intensive Revision process. The Political Department is currently reviewing these allegations. Sangma confirmed he will raise the issue with Assam if the residents are being forced against their will.
