Shillong: Meghalaya’s election officials have pushed enumeration forms to 19,91,883 registered voters. This hits 84.77 percent of the state’s 23,49,645 total electors. Work continues as part of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. So far, staff have digitized 5,64,610 forms, marking 24.03 percent of the electorate.
West Jaintia Hills leads the state with a 98.94 percent distribution rate. South West Garo Hills follows closely at 97.77 percent. North Garo Hills reached 95.12 percent, South West Khasi Hills hit 90.37 percent, and East Garo Hills sits at 88.84 percent. Digitization efforts show different leaders. East Jaintia Hills tops the list with 41.55 percent of forms uploaded, followed by South West Khasi Hills at 40.31 percent, Eastern West Khasi Hills at 36.73 percent, South West Garo Hills at 34.01 percent, and West Garo Hills at 33.23 percent.
The Chief Electoral Officer held a hybrid meeting Sunday at the Shillong MLA Hostel. Legislators met to discuss the revision process and deadlines. The CEO urged representatives to push for citizen participation. The CEO also holds weekly video conferences with district officers and field staff to track house-to-house progress. Officials must fix field issues and hit Election Commission of India targets.
The department praised the work of Booth Level Officers and supervisors. They issued a final plea to the public. "The Election Department acknowledged the efforts of District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, BLO supervisors and Booth Level Officers for the progress achieved so far." Voters missing forms should contact their local Booth Level Officer to ensure the roll remains accurate.
