Shillong: Meghalaya election officials have wrapped up the house-to-house enumeration phase for the 2026 Special Intensive Revision. The state aims for a clean, accurate, and inclusive Electoral Roll by the time the draft publishes on August 5, 2026. Out of 23,49,645 total electors, the state reports full coverage of Enumeration Form distribution and digitization.
Data reveals 7,75,337 voters mapped as Self, linking back to the 2005 database, while 11,69,670 electors are mapped as Progeny. Another 2,24,234 fall under the No Mapping category. These records require further verification. Officials identified 1,80,404 voters under Absent, Shifted, Deceased, and Duplicate categories. This list includes 81,490 deceased, 45,013 missing forms, 42,532 shifted, 4,668 refusals, and 6,701 duplicates. All will face processing under the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. Claims and objections follow between August 5 and October 3.
The Election Commission of India approved a major expansion. It added 86 new polling stations. This boosts the state total from 3,551 to 3,637. Officials urge any remaining electors to submit forms to Booth Level Officers or via the ECINET portal immediately.
The Chief Electoral Officer met with political parties on July 28 to review the progress. He credited Booth Level Agents for boosting "transparency, public participation and the successful implementation of the revision process" throughout the state. The office also thanked community leaders, Dorbar Shnongs, and Nokmas for their support. Missing the deadline means exclusion from the upcoming draft roll.
