Meghalaya and UN WFP Expand Food Security Pact

Shillong: Meghalaya and the United Nations World Food Programme deepened their ties on Tuesday. Officials signed an amendment to their current food security and nutrition agreement in New Delhi. The deal aims to bolster the state's existing infrastructure.

The ceremony took place at the WFP Head Office. State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Methodious Dkhar attended the event to oversee proceedings. Pravin Bakshi, the Commissioner and Secretary for Meghalaya, signed the document for the state. Elisabeth Faure, the Country Director for WFP India, signed on behalf of the organization.

"The Meghalaya government and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) on Tuesday further strengthened their partnership on food security and nutrition by signing an amendment to their existing agreement in New Delhi." The state government expects this collaboration to improve local oversight. Work continues now.
