Imphal: Manipur Police arrested a student leader for working with the National Revolutionary Front Manipur. The outfit is banned. Special Commandos grabbed Waikhom Sena, 24, at Khabeisoi on September 28. Sena served as president of the Imphal East unit for the Manipuri Students’ Federation.

Sena lives in Luwangsangbam Mamang Leikai. Police claim he used his role to push insurgent propaganda across social media and local newspapers. He allegedly handled illegal cash for the outfit too. Officers searched his home and found Rs 2,67,500 in 500-rupee notes, which investigators describe as extortion proceeds. They also seized an Apple MacBook they believe he used to draft press statements for the group.

The Manipuri Students’ Federation booted Sena immediately following the arrest. The student body issued a statement claiming, "his alleged activities had no connection with student welfare" and insisted his conduct breached their rules. The organization maintains they hold no ties to the banned group and handled the matter internally.
