Manipur Security Forces Nab Three Insurgents in Anti-Extortion Raids

Imphal: Security forces captured three active insurgents in Manipur on Thursday. The arrests occurred during targeted anti-extortion operations across the region. Bishnupur Commandos took 27-year-old Sanjenbam Sanju Singh into custody at his home in Khabi Mayai Leikai. Police linked the PREPAK (Pro) member to local extortion schemes following specific intelligence reports.

Officers struck again in Kumbi Sagolpat. They hauled in 22-year-old Laishram Rohit Meitei, another PREPAK (Pro) cadre. Meitei hails from Tuibong Meitei Leikai in Churachandpur but was living at the Laisoi Relief Camp before his arrest. Officials confirmed he faced questioning for suspected extortion demands.

A joint team involving Kakching Commandos tracked down a third suspect at his home in Kakching Khunou Umathel. They arrested 46-year-old Khumukcham Ramesh Meitei, also known as Panthung. He belonged to the UNLF (MPA) Pambei group. The Waikhong Police Station holds jurisdiction over the case. Officials stated, "He was operating under the jurisdiction of Waikhong Police Station and was wanted in connection with alleged local extortion activities."

Police reports identify the father of Laishram Rohit Meitei as L Amu Meitei. Records further specify that Sanjenbam Sanju Singh is the son of S Tomba Singh.
