Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh joined the Purna Yatra, also known as Kanglen, at the historic Shri Govindaji Temple in Imphal on July 24. The ceremony finished the 10-day Kang Chingba, or Rath Yatra, festival. The event drew hundreds of local devotees.
Former Rajya Sabha MP and Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba attended alongside the Chief Minister. The rituals track the return journey of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra. It mimics the massive chariot procession seen on the opening day of the festival.
Khemchand Singh prayed for harmony across the state. He spoke to the crowd about his hopes for the region. "I offer my prayers to Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra for a peaceful and prosperous Manipur, where unity and order prevail among all communities. May everyone be blessed with peace and a spirit of non-violence," the Chief Minister said.
