Imphal: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh launched the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan in Imphal West today. This month-long campaign celebrates 25 years of public service by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It runs until October 17, 2026. Khemchand Singh toured over 30 stalls at the Khoyathong Multipurpose Community Hall. These booths display government services and development schemes.
The Chief Minister aims to reach every beneficiary. His team will visit different Assembly Constituencies to audit how well government help reaches the public. Khemchand Singh promised to fix any gaps in delivery. He noted, "The government’s doors remain open for dialogue and problems can be resolved through discussion." He said these meetings help identify local struggles.
State finances took a hit. The May 3, 2023 incident caused deep financial pain. Manipur lost Rs 475 crore in GST collection during the 2023-24 fiscal year alone. Total revenue losses hit Rs 1,300 crore over three years. Daily wage earners suffer most when bandhs and blockades stop the flow of trade. Khemchand Singh urged citizens to ditch the blockades and talk to their MLAs instead.
The Chief Minister pointed to Singapore as a model for progress. He wants diverse communities to unite for the Viksit Bharat@2047 goal. Officials also addressed the recent Census deferment. The Central Government delayed the count after hearing local concerns. This follows the 2019 extension of the Inner Line Permit System. MLA Khumukcham Joykisan Singh and Deputy Commissioner Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh attended the event.
