Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh attended the Golden Jubilee of the Chingamathak College Road Youths Development Association (CRYDA) on October 1. The event took place at Ima Chinga Lairembi Meetin Shang in Imphal. Khemchand Singh praised local clubs for their impact on youth character. These groups identify and support talent from economically weaker sections. Local support builds the state’s sporting culture.
Khemchand Singh served as Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly previously. He noted that he visited the Singjamei constituency frequently during that time. He met residents to address local grievances. Today, state instability limits his travel. He cited the prevailing law and order situation for his restricted schedule.
The Chief Minister recalled the legacies of Irengbam Tompok Singh and Haobam Bhuban Singh. He described the pair as the “Pride of Singjamei” and expressed his desire to be remembered similarly. He asked for collective support to restore peace across Manipur.
CRYDA president Kakchingtabam Ajitkumar Sharma thanked the community for their work. He noted that the association relies on local involvement to function. Khemchand Singh paid floral tributes to deceased founders during the ceremony. Officials presented mementos to former and current office-bearers, donors, and committee members.
Other attendees included Imphal Municipal Corporation Acting Mayor Laisangbam Lokeshwar Singh, Corporators Thokchom Bankimchandra Singh and Thokchom Eliza, and senior advocate Naorem Umakanta Singh. Chingamathak Nupi Thougal Lup president Leiphrakpam (O) Bimo Devi also joined the gathering.
