Longleng District Rallies Following Devastating Mudslides

Kohima: The Phom Peoples Council (PPC) is thanking neighbors and state officials for help during the current Longleng district crisis. Heavy rain triggered massive mudslides. These slides blocked vital roads. The region remains isolated.

The Akhoya Village Council, Merangkong Village Council, and Langpangkong Tzukong Mungdang stepped up to clear road blockades. The PPC praised their selfless brotherhood. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority also earned thanks for monitoring the situation and delivering relief supplies.

The Indian Air Force launched air operations to evacuate people stranded by the destruction. A. Pongshi Phom, the MLA and advisor for Airways and Railways, coordinated the airlifting of patients and students. He also paid for their travel. The PPC noted the specific impact of these actions in a statement: "The Council said it was humbled by the unity and resilience shown across communities and government machinery."

Jaiswal and Sons provided essential relief supplies during the chaos. B. Bangtick Phom joined A. Pongshi Phom to visit landslide sites and count the remaining stock of essential goods. The PPC now asks for continued cooperation. They want the district to reach normalcy soon.
