Imphal: The Kuki Students' Organisation Sadar Hills teamed up with Gunchu Coaching Institute on August 28 to offer free classes for the 2026 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test. The program operates out of the KSO administrative office in Kangpokpi, specifically targeting children uprooted by regional conflict.
Inspector of Schools Thangjalal Touthang officially started the initiative. Rev. Paolenlal Singson of the Council of Baptist Churches in Assam led prayers for the students and the teachers. General Secretary K Shongren told the crowd, "The organisation's efforts to expand educational opportunities for students facing financial and social challenges" remain a top priority.
Gunchu Coaching Institute proprietor Thangboi Haokip spoke at the event to introduce the teaching staff. The classes focus on preparing students for the Class VI entrance exam at the national residential school network. The ongoing conflict in the region left many families unable to pay for private tutoring. By removing these costs, organizers hope to secure competitive spots for displaced youth. The project aims to catch talent that might otherwise slip through the cracks during times of turmoil.
