Chandel Forest Division Takes Students on Wildlife Educational Tour

Imphal: Chandel Forest Division launched a wildlife tour for 50 students today. The group pulled out from Japhou Bazaar at 7 am. They represent 10 different schools from the Chandel district. This trip runs during Wildlife Week, a stretch spanning October 2 to 8. DFO Dr. N. Munal Meitei flagged off the bus alongside local teachers, school principals, and department staff.

Students are hitting four major sites. They will explore Keibul Lamjao National Park and the Manipur Zoological Garden to study animal habitats. The itinerary also includes stops at Kangla and the Manipur State Museum to cover the state’s cultural heritage. The trip is just one piece of a bigger puzzle. The Forest Department is running awareness campaigns, mobile registration drives, and special events for World Animal Day and World Habitat Day.

Dr. Munal Meitei addressed the crowd before departure. He emphasized the need to protect the environment. "The initiative seeks to deepen awareness about wildlife conservation while fostering a sense of national integration and collective responsibility," he said. The department expects this hands-on approach to drive home the importance of their mission.
