KCP Denies Role in Yairipok Grenade Attack

Imphal: The Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) says it had nothing to do with a grenade scare at a sawmill in Yairipok. A Chinese-made hand grenade and a threatening note showed up at the home of Sarungbam Bimol, the owner of M/S H. Rameshwar Sharma Saw Mill, also known as Victoria Veneer Mills.

It happened early on October 4 at Yairipok Yambem Makha Leikai within the Andro Police Station jurisdiction. KCP Media Coordinator A. Luwangba claimed the note was a fake. The party pointed to errors in the date, reference number, and signature on the paper.

The group noted the document labeled reference 098/Fin/KCP/26/012 and dated October 2, 2026, failed to match their formal records. Luwangba said the signature did not belong to the party’s Deputy Finance Secretary. "The incident could have been the work of unknown individuals attempting to defame the KCP or could be linked to a personal dispute," Luwangba stated.

The organization plans to look into the matter. They want anyone in the Leikai area who knows Bimol to come forward with tips. They hope this leads to the people who dropped the bomb and the letter.
