Imphal: Public members caught a man posing as a member of the Kangleipak Communist Party in Checkon on August 29. The individual, identified as Yensenbam Rajesh, also known as Khana Meitei, allegedly demanded money from fast-food shops. He is the son of Y. Tomba Meitei and Y. (O) Tampha Leima from Wangkhem Mamang Leikai.
Witnesses cornered the suspect at Kok Sam Fast-food. KCP media coordinator A. Luwangba stated the man sought cash using the name of the party and its armed wing, Miyamgi Fingang Lanmi. The outfit denied any connection to Rajesh. They claim his actions aim to smear their reputation.
The group backed the public intervention. "The party would not be able to protect anyone misusing its name without authorisation," Luwangba said. He insisted that legitimate party requests must include an official letterhead. The KCP now urges locals to verify credentials before handing over any money.
