Imphal: Imphal East commandos caught two active SOREPA members in Khurai Thangjam Leikai on August 24. The arrests followed intelligence regarding a localized extortion plot. Forces cornered the suspects after reliable tips from the 28 Assam Rifles.

Officers identified the pair as 37-year-old Laitonjam Rocky Singh, also known as Khutan, and 36-year-old Pukhrambam Kumarjit Singh. Security officials stated the men entered the neighborhood specifically to collect illegal cash. They had a job to do. During the search, police seized a handwritten extortion slip from the pair that featured a mobile phone number and the name SOREPA.

Authorities are currently digging into the case. "Further investigation is underway," confirmed the security forces leading the operation.
