Grenade attack rattles Koirengei residents

Imphal: Unknown assailants tossed a hand grenade at a home in Koirengei Nepali Basti at 6 am today. The device landed near the front gate of 40-year-old Gurumayum Kanak Kumar Sharma. His property sits close to the local Ply Factory. The blast did not happen. No one got hurt.

Police arrived to find a handwritten note left with the explosive. The paper contained a chilling message: "this is my last warning." Heingang Police Station officers opened a suo motu case immediately. They are now working to track down the suspects.

The CID Technical team Bomb Disposal Squad arrived later that morning. They hauled the device away from the residential area. At 8:50 am, the team successfully disposed of the grenade at Heingang Chingol. Investigators are currently checking if the threat targeted the owner directly or signals a broader danger to the community.
