The state distributed a total of Rs 2.19 crore in welfare benefits during Monday's event. This payout included Rs 1.42 crore for 2,531 students living in relief camps, along with Rs 19 lakh for eight families under an accidental death scheme and Rs 58.20 lakh for 194 recipients through a natural death benefit program. Government officials noted that these funds reached the displaced via Direct Benefit Transfer, and they urged those who remain unregistered to sign up immediately to qualify for support.
Khemchand also confirmed the government is actively holding talks with various civil society groups to mend the trust deficit between communities in the hills and the valley. Beyond the aid packages, the Chief Minister pointed to the successful restart of the Imphal to Guwahati bus service via Dimapur. He noted that the route now carries 450 to 500 passengers daily, offering a cheaper alternative for students and athletes who previously struggled with steep airfares. The state is currently observing the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, a month-long push for public service initiatives ending October 17.
