Imphal: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran touched down in Imphal from Chennai on Thursday with a singular goal: peace. The founder of Jesus Calls and Chancellor of Karunya University wants to stop the violence. He says his mission centers on prayer and reconciliation.
The crisis has hit everyone hard. Dhinakaran confirmed his organization, alongside SEESA Humanitarian, is providing support to those in need. His university has already stepped up. Over the past three years, they provided full engineering scholarships to 25 students from Manipur. These students live on the Coimbatore campus, an initiative that costs the organization roughly Rs 3 crore every year.
Dhinakaran met with the Deputy Chief Minister earlier Thursday to pray for the state and upcoming projects. He expects to meet Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand later tonight. He claims a habit of praying with political leaders, citing past meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. During the press conference, he stated, "The main purpose of his visit was to bring together people concerned about Manipur and pray for a solution to the ongoing crisis."
The push for harmony continues. On September 26 at 9 am, a large prayer gathering will take place at the Baptist Church on Namdulong Stadium Road. Dhinakaran is working with local churches to organize the event. He invited residents from every community to join. He believes the youth hold the keys to a stable future.
