NDMA Team Surveys Monsoon Destruction in Nagaland’s Mon District

Kohima: A federal disaster assessment team touched down in Mon on Tuesday. Eight members of the National Disaster Management Authority arrived to scope out monsoon wreckage. The visitors spent the day in meetings at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall.

Deputy Commissioner Wennyei Konyak led the briefing. He laid out the scope of the monsoon carnage for the team. Department heads handed over their files and assessment reports to the visitors. The team demanded precision. They told local officials: "Ensure that all actual damage was properly recorded as part of the assessment."

The central delegation brought together specialists from various fields. The group included Mickey Mecon Dalbehera from CBRI Roorkee, NIDM professors Rohit Kumar and Gagandeep Singh, and consultants Indranil Bose, Shashank Mishra, CP Mohan, and Chandani P C Senan. L Jonhibemo Odyuo from the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority tagged along to shepherd the group. The assessment aims to lock in post-disaster needs for the district.
