Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur is pushing the government to scrap a mass transfer order for police personnel. They argue the move ignores the volatile reality of the state. The Director General of Police issued the directive on July 18. Now, the organization wants it reversed.
KIM issued a press release on July 22. They claim cross-posting officers from warring groups into sensitive zones invites fresh bloodshed. This ignores the deep-seated ethnic hostility currently defining the region. The group warns the state is not ready. Routine administration cannot fix a broken peace.
The group fears the state is merely masking disorder. They accused authorities of chasing optics rather than real safety. The group stated that the government should not pursue what it described as “superficial peace” through administrative measures.
Deploying staff across these lines looks like a provocation to many civilians. The KIM wants both the Centre and the Manipur government to pivot. They demand a focus on a lasting political solution for the Kuki-Zo community instead. Law enforcement must remain neutral until actual progress happens on the ground.
