Kohima: MLA Kudecho Khamo challenged the newly formed Naga People's Front (NPF) Public Grievances Cell to become a dedicated listening post for the public. He addressed the committee on July 17 at the party's central office in Kohima. Khamo serves as the Advisor for Civil Administration Works Division and the legislator in-charge of this new body. He told members that Chief Minister and NPF President Neiphiu Rio entrusted them with a high-stakes mission.
Khamo admitted the cell might not solve every complaint brought by individuals or organizations. He insisted the unit must make a sincere effort to engage the public. "Providing a platform for meaningful interaction, he said, would itself be an important step towards addressing public grievances and strengthening the relationship between the party and the people."
The MLA praised the merger between the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party and the NPF. He claimed this move bolsters the regional party's ability to serve Nagaland, Manipur, and other Naga-inhabited areas. He warned that materialism and greed currently threaten Naga unity and identity. He argued that many people now prioritize cash over culture and shared political goals.
The meeting included discussions on organizational goals and the creation of a formal redressal system. Convenor Z Neikuo Lhousa led the event. The group emphasized inclusivity as a core requirement for future operations. They aim to safeguard Naga interests through a stronger political voice.
