Kohima: The NPF Central Youth Wing visited the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home on August 26, 2026. The event served as the group's monthly community outreach. Kezhavicha Vüprü chaired the program, while Kiutang Paul offered the invocation.
President N. Akok Longkumer spoke to the crowd. He touted health campaigns for the poor and CMHIS sign-ups. He also noted a 5k marathon held across five districts. This event aims to foster unity and fitness. The wing has now completed philanthropic visits to three orphanages in Tuensang and Kohima.
Longkumer emphasized the government's concern for every citizen. Working president Achamo Kikon joined him to distribute sweets on behalf of Dr. Neiphiu Rio. Kikon told the children to stay positive despite their hardships. He said, "Do not lose heart but to dream big." He pointed to the success of Ratan Tara as a prime example of overcoming an orphaned upbringing.
The home currently cares for 80 residents. The population includes 27 females and 53 males. Ages range from infants to those over 18 years. Some residents are elderly or specially abled. Most children attend the Government Middle School through the eighth grade. Philanthropic aid allows others to study elsewhere.
Music plays a major role in their development. The children performed "I Have Faith in Jesus" and "I’ve Got Joy." A.R. Rahman sponsored their musical instruments. These are taught by a professional through TaFMA. Some residents also participate in cricket training. Zubeen, a resident, thanked the visitors on behalf of the home. The day concluded with a prayer of blessing for all supporters.
