Kohima: The Naga People's Front Elders Council gathered at the Kohima Division conference hall on October 1 to mark the 36th United Nations International Day of Older Persons. Party leaders praised the older generation for their role in building the state. They called on younger members to value the wisdom that shapes the community.

H. Chuba Chang, working president of the NPF, took the stage as the main speaker. He pushed the crowd to look beyond age, noting that fresh minds and experience drive true progress. "A society which does not respect its elders has no future," Chang stated. He told the seniors not to lose heart, as their wisdom remains the engine for lasting societal growth.

Senior vice president Kruzakie credited NPF president and Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio for his commitment to the elderly. He argued that the younger generation must protect the heritage and cultural identity that these elders preserve. Vice president Akho Leyri pushed the members to grow the Council and bolster the party.

Nungsangninba chaired the session. P. Shing Khiam handled the welcome address, while Suosahie Sachu offered a prayer. T. Yangyam Phom closed the meeting with a vote of thanks, and Kepemu Jemu recorded the proceedings.
