Kohima: Jubilee Memorial College in Mokokchung held an orientation on August 7 to push students toward community service. The event focused on the goals and history of the National Service Scheme. Liju Achumi led the National Anthem at the start of the session. Principal Dr. Imtiwati Jamir then addressed the crowd. He told the students that education must reach beyond the classroom to help society. He used a familiar phrase to drive his point home, stating, "Little drops of water make a mighty ocean."
Dr. I. Tovishe Phucho, an Associate Professor from Nagaland University, acted as the keynote speaker. He noted the NSS began on September 24, 1969, with 40,000 volunteers across 37 universities. He defined the motto as "Not Me But You." Students must finish 240 hours of work over two years to earn their NSS certificate. Phucho also urged the attendees to focus on environmental conservation and cutting waste.
Etilila Jamir spoke about her time at the North East NSS Youth Festival. She credited the event for boosting her teamwork and confidence. Dheeraj Kumar, the District Youth Officer for My Bharat in Mokokchung, held the final session. He pushed the students to reject social evils and focus on character development. The event closed with a vote of thanks from My Bharat Ambassador Tzutiden Longkumer and the singing of the College Anthem.
