Agartala: The Howrah River surged past its danger mark following heavy weekend rains in the hills of Tripura. Water levels climbed rapidly starting at 4 a.m. on Sunday, spilling into low-lying areas across Agartala and the Khayerpur constituency. Streets and houses in Baldakhal, Ranirbazar, and the Chaturdasha Devata Bari area now sit under water.

Residents are scrambling to move belongings as the flooding spreads to Aralia and Chandrapur. Cattle sheds and local markets have also gone underwater. One resident noted, "The water rose unexpectedly before dawn, leaving us anxious about what comes next." Many families have already abandoned their homes for temporary relief camps to escape the rising tide.

Boats now patrol the waterlogged zones to reach trapped citizens. Authorities are actively moving people from the hardest-hit neighborhoods to safer ground. Officials confirmed they are keeping a close watch on the river, warning that further rain could trigger another dangerous spike in water levels. District administration teams are working to manage the crisis while urging locals to stay alert and follow all safety instructions.
