Assam Villages Flooded as Kolong River Overflows

Guwahati: The Kolong River burst its banks, swallowing villages in Uttar Geruaati within the Chamguri Assembly constituency. Hundreds of bighas of paddy fields and vegetable farms sit under murky water. Farmers face total ruin. The damage to agricultural land is extensive, stripping families of their livelihoods and local food sources.

Residents report a desperate struggle to find clean drinking water and food. They feel abandoned by the state. Local families claim no district officials or elected representatives have arrived to assess the devastation. The silence from the government rankles. One resident stated, "They have not received any government assistance despite several villages being inundated."

Villagers are demanding immediate intervention from the administration. They want relief supplies shipped in now. They also demand compensation for the destroyed harvests. The clock is ticking for the farmers of Rupahihat.
