Guwahati: Public outcry is hitting Bidya Mandir School in Gauripur. The Dhubri district institution stands accused of severe academic and administrative misconduct. Trouble started when the school ordered 62 students from Class IX and Class X to stop wearing their uniforms. Locals fear this move serves to distance the school from these specific learners.
Total enrollment at the site exceeds 800 children. The current dispute involves 33 students from Class IX and 29 from Class X. Citizens claim the school secretly registered these seniors at outside institutions to dodge administrative hurdles. Records suggest 20 of the Class IX students are tied to South Point School in Sapatgram, while 13 appear under North East Global School in Dhubri. Every one of the 29 Class X students is allegedly listed under South Point School.
Social worker Shimul Sarkar contacted the District Commissioner and the Inspector of Schools to demand a formal probe. School owner M.R. Joddar claims his institution only runs from Nursery through Class VIII. He argues those in higher grades are merely attending what he calls "coaching classes." Parents reject this explanation. They insist they pay regular tuition fees for full academic instruction.
Inspector of Schools Adit Kumar Sharma promised a thorough investigation. Authorities plan to take administrative action once the inquiry wraps up.
