Dhubri Marks National Library Day to Honor S.R. Ranganathan

Guwahati: Dhubri District Library held a commemorative event on Wednesday, August 12. Staff, students, and local intellectuals gathered to honor Dr. S.R. Ranganathan. They call him the "Father of Library Science in India."

Ranganathan was born August 9, 1892, in the town of Shiyali, known today as Sirkazhi, Tamil Nadu. He changed how the nation manages information. He wrote the famous Five Laws of Library Science, which still dictate how libraries operate today.

Officials used the event to push the value of reading and research. Libraries build a foundation for lifelong learning. They keep knowledge open to everyone in the community. India marks the day every August 12 to recognize his work in modernizing library systems.
