Garo Hills Resident Reports Sale of Expired Goods

Shillong: A resident of Gasuapara is blowing the whistle on wholesalers selling expired goods across West and South Garo Hills. S Salgra G Momin filed a formal petition on July 29 with the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner and the Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety. He wants heads to roll.

Momin claims wholesalers in Dalu Barengapara Market openly push expired stock onto unsuspecting retailers and shoppers. He reports the same illegal practice happens in smaller markets like Gasuapara, Dumnikura, and Sibbari. Shopkeepers buy this tainted stock without knowing it is past its prime. It is a health disaster.

The complainant is ready to back up his claims. He offered to provide officials with video and photographic evidence to prove the allegations. "Sought strict legal action against those responsible," Momin stated in his formal request to the authorities.
