Shillong: Five Ayushman Arogya Mandirs-Sub Health Centres in Meghalaya just landed National Quality Assurance Standards certification. This is a first for the state. The National Health Systems Resource Centre handed out the awards after the facilities met every target across 12 different service packages.
The winning centres include Saitsama and Mihmyntdu in West Jaintia Hills, Raja A.pal and Narongkol in North Garo Hills, and Manai in West Khasi Hills. Saitsama led the group with a 94.07 per cent score. Mihmyntdu followed with 93.91 per cent. Raja A.pal hit 93.30 per cent, Narongkol reached 92.87 per cent, and Manai earned 91.07 per cent.
Evaluators audited a wide range of services. The list includes maternal and child health, neonatal care, family planning, and mental health. They also checked emergency medical care, communicable and non-communicable disease management, oral health, plus drugs and diagnostics. The audit covered elderly and palliative care, adolescent healthcare, and services for ENT and ophthalmic conditions.
Officials credit the staff for the success. Multi-Purpose Health Workers, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives, and other personnel kept the facilities up to code. The certification confirms these public sites provide safe, patient-centred care. It reinforces the state goal to "strengthen healthcare services at the grassroots level by improving accessibility, patient safety and the overall quality of care."
