Shillong: The Central Board of Secondary Education set the start date for the 2027 board exams. Class X and Class XII students begin testing on February 16, 2027. Exams kick off at 10.30 am sharp. The board finalized the schedule based on final data from school submissions.
Registration numbers are high. More than 26.5 lakh students signed up for Class X. Another 19.8 lakh students registered for Class XII. These students face a massive exam list. Class X covers 83 subjects while Class XII covers 121. The CBSE released these dates 101 days ahead of time.
Officials carefully built the schedule to avoid conflict. They processed over 40,000 subject combinations to ensure no student faces two exams on the same day. They also built in gaps between common subjects. The board stated, “The date sheets are prepared based on the data submitted in the List of Candidates (LOC) by the schools.”
Planners also looked at major entrance exam schedules. They aimed to finish board tests before those begin. This helps students focus. Officials also balanced the number of students per center to ensure smooth operations. This plan also helps teachers. It cuts down their time away from classrooms during the grading phase.
