Kohima: Dimapur officials gathered at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on October 12 to iron out the rollout of the NIPUN Bharat Mission. ADC Dr. Diana Patton chaired the session and thanked the attendees for their work. The Ministry of Education launched the initiative in July 2021. It hits a hard deadline in the 2026-2027 school year.
The program aims to guarantee every child masters reading and math by the end of Grade 3. It reaches kids aged three to nine, starting from Balvatika. A presentation broke down the core pillars: Early Childhood Care and Education, teacher training, and foundational literacy. The team focused on the Vidya Pravesh module. This NCERT creation uses play to prep kids for Grade 1. "It is designed to ensure smooth transition to Grade 1 through games, stories, songs and interactive activities."
Data collection remains a major focus. The Vidya Samiksha Kendra platform will track attendance and student performance to spot learning gaps. Officials also pushed to digitize Holistic Progress Cards. The group debated bringing private schools into the fold, a move that requires a policy shift from the State Government. Dimapur is currently building a custom evaluation plan. They also considered bringing in NGOs to help with the heavy lifting. The session ended with a call to clarify the roles of every stakeholder before the next meeting.
