Kohima: The NSS unit of MGM College took their anti-drug mission to the village of Kashiram on October 9. They held an event titled Yuva Sanwad-Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat. It operated under the theme My Health, My Pride as part of the fourth week of the 100 Week Sankalp Abhiyan. The campaign pushes young people to dodge substance use and make better life choices.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off the national movement on August 2, 2026. It rests on four main pillars: Prevent, Protect, Recover, and Lead. The effort blends the national anti-drug goal with the core NSS motto: Not Me, But You.
Dimapur Municipal Council councillor I. Sentinuklu Jamir served as the chief guest. He called for a group effort to help youth stay clean and build a stronger society. Keynote speaker Neimhanu Kulnu, a psychiatric social worker at District Hospital Dimapur, warned the crowd against the initial trap of experimentation. She cautioned that substance use often begins with the thought, “Just try it, nothing will happen,” but can eventually become life threatening. She pushed the crowd to seek professional help without fear of stigma.
Dr. A. Temsuyanger, a consultant psychiatrist at District Hospital Dimapur, held a session on how addiction ruins mental health. He also answered questions from students. The event closed with a street play performed by NSS volunteers, who acted out scenes to show the physical and social dangers of drug use.
